Praying for your Ministry Partners

A Simple Method for Praying for your Ministry Partners

It can be daunting to try to find a workable system to faithfully pray for our ministry partners and their prayer requests. Here is an idea that was shared with me that really works!

Start with a pack of 4x6 index cards and a card file box. On each card list a partner’s name, spouse’s name and any children’s names. On the lines beneath, list any prayer requests you know about. Put the box on your dining table and start praying for one ministry partner family each day.

If you have children, bring them into the process as well. It will help them to better understand that God uses our friends to help provide for our ministry and how thankful we are for them.

Each year when you receive Christmas cards, save any photos from your partners, and attach them to the back of the card (this is why 4x6 cards are useful). Also note any important information about them from their Christmas card or newsletter and any things that could use prayer.

When you send email updates to your partners, ask them to send you any prayer requests and follow-up on anything you have noted on your cards. Also, as you follow them on FB or other social media, watch for any updates to be praying for them.

This system can help you feel more connected to your ministry partners and is a great reminder to pray for them regularly and follow up with them. Including the children in praying for your partners reminds all of you that your partners are a vital part of your ministry. After all, our work would not be possible without them!
